Ride For The Challenge, Not The T-Shirt In The 2nd Annual Beach Century Bike Tour
The We Promise Foundation Hosts Bike Tour in Virginia Beach To Raise Money for Local Children
The We Promise Foundation, a local children’s charity founded in Virginia Beach, is hosting an uplifting bike tour to help make dreams come true for local children struggling with degenerative, life-threatening, or chronic illnesses, or those facing tremendous hardship. The 2nd Annual Beach Century Bike Tour will be held on September 25, 2010 at the Virginia Beach Municipal Center intersection of North Landing Road and George Mason Drive. Riders can show their support by participating in a 33 mile, 50 mile, or 100 mile scenic course that winds through Virginia Beach and Chesapeake.
Enrollment is limited to 300 riders and is filling up quickly! The cost to participate is $25 for individual riders, $75 for team rider registration and a $100 fundraising donation per rider. All proceeds benefit the We Promise Foundation.
As the charitable arm of Chartway Federal Credit Union, the We Promise Foundation hosts many events throughout the year. Through the dedication of staff and volunteers, and the generosity of donors and supporters, We Promise has been successful in raising more than $3M to lighten the burden for over 600 children through partnerships with numerous chapters of The Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. Mary’s Home for Disables Children, Families of Autistic Children in Tidewater, The Front Row Foundation, Toby’s Dream Foundation, Rock-N-Jock Charities, and other charitable children’s groups who share our passion and mission to make a difference.
“The Beach Century Bike Tour is our newest signature event fundraiser offering 33, 50 and 100-mile routes . . . so anyone can ride if they are up for the challenge!” states We Promise Chairman John Blum. “And through the support of our cyclists, we can deliver magical smiles to our We Promise Kids and give them an irreplaceable memory to last a lifetime.”
For more information about the ride or how to register online, you can visit www.beachcenturytour.com. You don’t have to ride to help make a difference; volunteer opportunities are also available. Support the We Promise Foundation on September 25, 2010 and ride for the challenge, not the t-shirt!

The We Promise Foundation hosts a great event to raise money and awareness for children struggling with life-threatening illnesses. The people involved were terrific and the community was warm and welcoming. There was a real love with generosity and respect for life.
